Vegetable and Pearl Barley Soup

1 T vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
2 ½ t paprika
½ t dried chilli
2 carrots, chopped
2 potatoes, chopped
2 sticks celery, chopped
6 C vegetable stock
2 C water
400g can tomatoes
400g can kidney beans, drained/rinsed
1 C pearl barley, rinsed
2 T tomato paste

Saute onion until soft, add paprika and chilli 1 min.  Add other ingredients, bring to boil then simmer ~35 mins.
